Little Theatre Culture Centers is a Dance, Gymnastic, and Music School located in Denver, Colorado. We have been in business for over 50 years.
We have three schools in the Denver area: our Main School in Lakewood, our Littleton location in Ken Caryl, and our Highlands Ranch location.
These are some of our values that are the foundation of our teaching:
Discipline
Self discipline is a happy by-product of correct dance training. Without discipline, one achieves only mediocrity. From four years old on, this trait will carry over into their school, home, and social life.
Perseverance
We stress the need for "hangin' in there." Not only when the going is easy, but especially when the student runs into a difficult period. This can be caused by a growing spurt, causing a change in balance and control. In the spring with warm weather, at Christmas due to the excitement at home, or trouble in their personal life all can be a distraction.
Children sometimes want to drop out due to daily stress from too much activity, but dance and gymnastics are wonderful stress managers. If you are faced with the problem of a child wanting to quit, we would like to find out the reason...usually very obvious... and ask that you guide away from this very common mistake.
Remember that guiding is not "pushing your child." The gain will be truly worth the pain. We feel the quality of persevering is a major requirement for any successful student and this quality will carry over into adult life. Developing the quality of perseverance while enjoying the art of dance is another happy by-product of good dance training.
Work Ethic
Hard work is necessary to achieve any worth while goal. We enjoy a rigorous workout in each class. From four on, the body thrives on good balanced exercise. By stressing the need for discipline, perseverance, and hard work to achieve an attainable goal, we are leading our students up the pathway to success.
Dance Attire
Black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes, black tap shoes. Jazz students wear black leotard and black jazz pants. Hair should be neatly away from the face.
Gymnastic Attire
White shorts, LTCC T-Shirt (all students receive a shirt upon registration), leotard and shorts. Hair should be under control so as not to interfere with effective movements.
Performance Opportunities
Little Theatre schools offer many performing opportunities. There are studio performances, community appearances, talent shows as well as a spring show at one of the high schools. Students learn cooperation, responsibility, stage presence and develop confidence through these appearances.
Gymnastic meets are held at the Main school. There are three team meets per year as well as an individual meet held in the spring. Gymnasts also perform in the Big Show.
Visiting Opportunities
You are cordially invited to observe your child's class on the first lesson of the month - visitors week. Limiting the visitation day prevents undue distraction for the students. During visitor's week we ask that small children remain under control to avoid additional distractions for the class.
At Little Theatre we pride ourselves on not being "just another dance studio" . We are family owned and operated and strive to bring the values of our community into our business.
What is the advantage of choosing Little Theatre? When you walk through our doors you are not just a client; you are a part of our family.
Unlike many other studios, we offer classes year round and special programs in the summer. Our teachers are not only dedicated to the art of dance, but to the growth of our students, both in studio and out.
When you walk through our doors, we want your and your family to feel special because YOU are what makes Little Theatre so special.
Do you have the Little Theatre Advantage?
Q. What is Little Theatre?
A. We are a dance, gymnastics, and music school.
Q. What kind of dance do you teach?
A. We teach ballet, tap and jazz. We offer a combination ballet and tap class for children
through adults. We teach Lyrical and Classic
Jazz styles.
Q. Are you a competitive school?
A. No. We do have many performing opportunities, but our focus is on dance as an art not a sport. However, our dancers have won many dance competitions. The choice to enter a competition is up to the students or class. We still remain focused as an art not the competition.
Q. What about costumes?
A. We have a very minimal costume fee that is paid at the time of registration. This covers the student for a full season. We do this to minimize the expense that a parent has to invest in an expensive costume for each show.
Q. What kind of gymnastic school are you?
A. We are a recreational gymnastic school. We have a philosophy that more benefit is gained from good solid gymnastic training than is gained from the competitive aspects of the sport. Many of our gymnasts have gone into high school with a very solid background in gymnastics and were very competitive. It is not our goal to train national champions, it is our goal to train the student in good solid technique and let them decide how far they take it.
Q. What kind of music school are you?
A. Currently we offer Piano, Guitar, Drums, Bass, and Voice lessons. We also offer a week long summer camp focused on performance.

At Little Theatre, dance is our passion. And it is our goal to share that passion with every student and parent that comes in our doors. We believe everyone should dance and as a part of that we offer a wide array of ballet and tap classes.
Most of our classes are ballet and tap combination classes, exposing students to the styles and history of both. Whether your favorite is ballet, or whether your favorite is tap (and having a favorite is ok by us), our classes provide a balance, and are never boring.
Ballet & Tap
Our ballet and tap classes are taught by our caring and qualified staff, which brings a personal and supportive approach. Students will learn the fundamentals of both ballet and tap in a fun environment, and also the discipline required for a classroom setting.
During the course of a year, students will learn and perfect choreography in both tap and ballet and will have several performing opportunities. All costumes and dances are age appropriate, and sure to make you proud of your dancer.
Pointe
We offer pointe/pre-pointe classes at all three locations for dancers approved by the teacher. Students must spend a minimum of 1 year in the pre-pointe class before they will have the opportunity to move up to pointe shoes. All decisions regarding this are up to the instructor, and depend on skill level, strength and safety of the dancer.
Students will work at the barre and on the floor to improve their technique and capabilities. Even if pointe shoes are not your goal, this class is a perfect addition for the ballet enthusiast.
Here at Little Theatre, we offer jazz classes for students of all skill levels, ages 6 and up. Our hip hop classes are divided into two sections, Hippity Hop for our younger students and Hip Hop for students over the age of ten.
Our classes are age-appropriate and taught by our trained and enthusiastic staff.
Each class incorporates the fundamentals of their style accompanied by fun, upbeat music. These exciting classes are also guaranteed to be a workout!
Jazz
Our jazz classes incorporate all different styles, including lyrical, contemporary and modern dance movements. We offer all levels, from introductory to advanced. Classes focus on technique and style, as well as quality of movement.
Classes will typically learn one to two routines to be performed, as well as many choreography combinations and the opportunity of learning from guest teachers.
Hip-Hop
Little Theatre offers a unique hip-hop program, with the discipline of dance and the creativity of movement. Our hip-hop classes focus on conditioning, strength and endurance necessary for a hip-hop dancer. Students will learn routines and choreography, and have the opportunity to perform.
Program Outline-
We offer a low pressure, low student/teacher ratio approach to gymnastics. At the Main School we focus on the primary disciplines of Floor, Bars, Beam, and Vault.
Our Staff has been with us for many years and offers a very personalized approach to gymnastics. The main emphasis in our teaching is on an enjoyment of the sport first and competition second. We have had many students progress to competitive high school gymnastics.
Gymnastafit -
Get in shape for sports. High energy no gymnastic experience necessary
Personal training experience for kids
Small group with individual attention - and more importantly - RESULTS
We offer meets throughout the year within our own school. Our meets include three team meets and one individual meet - all held at the main school. The objective with the meets is to give the students a sample of a competitive event without the high pressure usually associated with gymnastics.
We have a fun class for 3-6 year olds. The class teaches the students the fundamentals of gymnastics in a playful yet instructive manner.
Program Outline
Little Theatre offers a unique music school experience. Our mission is to create well-rounded musicians capable of being fluent in the whole language of music, not just certain words. Our curriculum teaches solid fundamentals, mixed with the ability to tap in to the creative mind of each student.
The benefits of a music education can transcend far beyond the lesson and carry over into every aspect of a student's life. It is our belief that a good understanding of music should be an integral part of every child's development.
Curriculum:
Some of the concepts covered in our lessons:
- Basic technique/body positioning.
- How to read AND write music.
- Aural skills - the ability to hear pitches and intervals.
- How to audition.
- Marching Band (Drumline) exercises and techniques.
- How to increase speed and endurance using efficient movement.
- How to practice effectively and stay with a metronome.
- The art of performing and playing with other musicians.
Staff:
Little Theatre's staff are a cut above the rest. While some teachers are happy to ONLY teach, our staff is made up of professional musicians that are actively involved in the music scene.
After the day of teaching ends, our staff is out at night playing in some of the world's best venues including: Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Invesco Field at Mile High, Boettcher Concert Hall, The Gothic Theatre, Dazzle (world's top 100 jazz clubs), as well as International venues and National festivals. Students can benefit greatly from having teachers that are hooked in to the local scene and on the cutting edge of the music industry.
We understand that not every child aspires to be a professional musician and that no two children are alike. We custom tailor each lesson to align with the students goals and desires while being dedicated to progress.
But first and foremost, we have fun. What is the point of music if you're not having fun?
Performance Opportunities:
Throughout the year we offer various opportunities to be involved in ensembles and recitals. Our recitals are a fun way to showcase a student's progress, and give them a change to play with other musicians in a band setting.
We also offer a summer intensive camp as a part of our Summer Student Mastery Program.
